 **About**\\ **About**\\
The Union Biometrica BioSorter® is a large-particle flow cytometer designed for the analysis, sorting, and dispensing of biological objects ranging from **10 to 1,500 µm** in diameter — far exceeding the size range of conventional flow cytometers. It is specifically designed for objects that are too large or too fragile for traditional flow cytometry, including small multicellular model organisms (zebrafish larvae, //C. elegans//, //Drosophila//), 3D cell clusters (tumor spheroids, neurospheres, stem cell clusters), large single cells, embryos, seeds, beads used as microcarriers, and combinatorial library beads. The system is a continuous-flow platform that measures up to five parameters per object — **axial length (TOF)**, **optical density (EXT)**, and up to **three channels of fluorescence (FLU)** — using a standard 488 nm solid-state laser, with support for up to three additional optional lasers (405, 445, 561, 640, or 660 nm). Sorting decisions are made in real time using a **patented pneumatic (air-pulse) sorting mechanism** that gently deflects non-selected objects to a recovery container without affecting viability. Selected objects are dispensed into 24-, 48-, 96-, or 384-well multiwell plates, tubes, or bulk receptacles via an X-Y-Z motorized stage. The system is fully configurable using interchangeable **Fluidics and Optics Core Assemblies (FOCAs)** optimized for four size ranges (250, 500, 1,000, and 2,000 µm flow cells), allowing a single instrument to serve multiple sample types and research programs. It is ideal for shared core laboratory settings. The BioSorter is controlled by a Windows-based workstation running **FlowPilot™** or **FlowPilot-Pro™** software with real-time data acquisition and sort decision-making. The Union Biometrica BioSorter® is a large-particle flow cytometer designed for the analysis, sorting, and dispensing of biological objects ranging from **10 to 1,500 µm** in diameter — far exceeding the size range of conventional flow cytometers.
